Brand Writer

Job description

Did you already know that at 60mph the loudest thing in the car is…the clock? Can’t find enough people to talk to about Innocent’s social media person? Missing a friend to nerd out on Slack’s release notes?

You’ve found your home.

At Famly, we’re on a mission to prove that shared early childhood is the future. It’s a pretty important one, supporting educators and families to work closer together, to make sure that early childhood is given the attention it deserves.

We’re looking for a talented Brand Writer in our Copenhagen office to help us tell that story. We’re calling it a Brand Writer because you’ll be working right across the landscape - from landing pages, ads and social, to scripts, press releases, ad copy and blog posts. You’ll also be in the Brand & Comms team, reporting into Matt, who has 7 years of experience as a copywriter and content writer - kindred spirits. You’re coming on board to help scale the brand voice that he started and make it better and yes he is sick of writing about himself in third person, it’s me, I’m Matt - I’m writing this (hi).

In Brand & Comms, we work outside of, but together with our 21-strong Marketing and Growth Team. We look after the story of why Famly is different (rather than just better), and make sure everyone knows about it. We also do big projects to communicate that story on a grand scale, and make sure everyone inside Famly can do it too.

We’re looking for someone ideally based in Copenhagen (or willing to relocate - we can help with that), but we’re also a flexible workplace and team. We care about the work you produce, not how, where, or in what colour of pyjamas you do it in.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with the Director of Brand and Comms to refine, scale, and be the flagbearer for our tone of voice (fwiw - we skew caring/calm/playful/guiding).

  • Write press releases and blog posts when we have something to tell the world.

  • Landing pages, ads and blog content to support campaigns around early childhood.

  • Video scripts to help us tell the founder story.

  • Work with Matt on the most fundamental copy projects our company has - Vision, mission, value and brand statements.

  • Take control of how we talk about the Brand team’s work on social and collaborate with our Social Media Manager on voice.

  • Contribute to the game-changing content projects we own, with scripts, copy and accompanying blog posts.

Requirements

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have spent 2+ years working on copy internally or at an agency across the full range of mediums (or less but you’re just really really damned good).

  • Love getting better, and know how to get inspired by what you see around you - and steal like an artist.

  • Prefer switching formats, rather than sticking with just short or long-form.

  • Want to be a founding member of Copenhagen's hottest new internal creative agency.

  • Work best when you’re given freedom.

  • Have a passion for early childhood and want to change the way the world sees it.

And it’d be even better if you:

  • Have experience in education or child psychology.

  • Have experience scaling brand voice.

  • Have some research nous, and can work on insights for your work with our Brand Researcher Nina.

  • Don’t mind crossing the aisle and pitching in design ideas with our Design Lead, Julie.

We appreciate that everyone brings something unique, so even if you don’t tick every box above, we’d still love to read your application.

And who are Famly?

You’re probably wondering at this stage, and Famly are...? Well, it all began when our co-founder Henrik’s daughter was ready to start at daycare. He couldn’t believe the amount of work being done on paper - and how distant he felt from his first child during the day. The paper ‘parent’ books they exchanged once a month just weren’t cutting it. Together with his friend, our co-founder and CEO Anders, they set about solving that.

These days, the 130 of us building Famly talk about trying to do two things for our 4,000 customers:

  • Giving children the best possible start to life.

  • Championing the vital work that goes into making that happen.

We do it with software that brings hundreds of thousands of parents closer to their child’s day while they’re away from them. We also make financial, pedagogical, and planning tools for more than 34,000 childcare professionals, saving them hours and reducing their admin stress.

Ultimately, that gives them more time and headspace for the little ones that really matter.

The interview process looks like:

  • A quick chat with our People Partner in Brand, Nettie

  • Take a quick logical test

  • A 1-1 interview with Matt, Director of Brand and Comms

  • A short assignment

  • A portfolio and assignment review with Matt, copywriter Bronagh, and VP of Marketing, Ditte.

  • (Hopefully) an offer!

You'll be working with:

We’re a small but mighty (and growing) team in B and C. Matt runs things (and has to write in third person for this bit), with a background in copywriting, content writing and producing shorts like this one - and likes songs with trumpets in. Nina is our Brand Researcher who digs deep into markets, personas, and data to help set Brand Strategy - and will laugh at your bad jokes. Julie is our Brand Design Lead, setting the visual identity for the entire Famly Brand - you can find her (probably) on Pinterest.

We also work very closely with the entire Marketing and Growth team (all 21 of them) and you can always check out their little faces over here.

You’ll love working here because:

  • We’re all about hiring clever people who are good humans too. It means Famly is full of top thinkers and generous teammates waiting to help you shine.

  • We like to give a lot of ownership both in terms of responsibility and freedom to try new things. We’ll get you up and running and collaborate along the way, of course.

  • Top-notch work equipment (including noise-cancelling headphones for those focus periods!).

  • We offer equitable perks, regardless if you work at Copenhagen HQ or remotely (that means if your Copenhagen teammates get dinner, we’ll buy you dinner in your home town too!).

  • A big focus on people support with personal and career development, including monthly training sessions in a wide variety of topics.

  • If you work remotely, you’ll get a coworking office budget too.

If you’re at Copenhagen HQ, you can enjoy:

  • A yummy daily buffet and a well-stocked drinks fridge (did someone say snack corner?)

  • Our private rooftop courtyard (sunny all year round, we promise…!)

  • Post-covid social activities have now resumed… enjoy endless team fun with dinners out, office BBQs, Friday bars, big quarterly social events, game nights, and more!

We're looking to fill the position as soon as possible, so get your application in today by sending us:

  • Your CV and cover letter covering what speaks to you about the role and what you can bring - in any form you like

  • A few examples of work you’ve made that you’re really proud of

  • A few examples of great work by other people that inspire you - and why.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Famly is committed to creating a more diverse, equal, and inclusive workforce, building teams that represent a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. It is a fundamental policy at Famly not to discriminate on any basis or characteristics and celebrate diversity. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to apply.
