Job description

At Famly, we are firmly committed to expanding our presence in the German market. We seek an integrations specialist or solutions architect to help build integrations to various German systems. We find that many of the integrations we need to develop only have documentation available in German, and most coordination meetings are also held in German.

Because of this, we are looking for a German-speaking engineer who will participate in scoping, researching, planning, and building integrations between our platform and a range of German systems, such as Datev, Destatis or ISBJ.

We expect that you are senior enough to drive the requirement phase with our larger customers and our partners whose systems we want to integrate with. This also means participating as a technical sales engineer during calls with prospective enterprise customers.

You will be working on one of our platform teams, and will also contribute to other areas, such as developer tooling, security features, and platform infrastructure. Still, you will be dedicated to building integrations and are expected to have strong experience building APIs and integrations with external systems. You will also be participating in the development as an engineer, and a lot of hands-on work will be required.

The position is preferably in Berlin, where we have a satelite office, or at our Copenhagen HQ, but if you have strong experience working fully remotely, we are also open for remote positions.

And Famly are...? Well it all began when our co-founder Henrik’s daughter was ready to start at daycare. He couldn’t believe the amount of work being done on paper - and how distant he felt from his first child during the day. The paper ‘parent’ books they exchanged once a month just weren’t cutting it. Together with his friend, our co-founder and CEO Anders, they set about solving that.

These days, the 140 of us building Famly talk about trying to do two things for our 6,500+ customers:

  • Giving children the best possible start to life.

  • Championing the vital work that goes into making that happen.

We do it with software that brings hundreds of thousands of parents closer to their child’s day while they’re away from them. We also make financial, pedagogical, and planning tools for more than 50,000 childcare professionals, saving them hours and reducing their admin stress.

Ultimately, that gives them more time and headspace for the little ones that really matter. Come help us make that happen.

What you'll be doing:

  • Extending Famly’s integration offerings, including API, Webhook systems, and integration platform

  • Scoping and building integration into external systems using APIs

  • Coordination with external providers of systems we want to integrate to

  • Coordination with key stakeholders, including customers

  • Participating in technical pre-sales meetings with enterprise customers

  • Participate in answering tenders for public contracts requiring integrations

  • Developing general features in Famly

Job requirements

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Love to work with integration systems using various technologies, including REST API, GraphQL, and queue-based messaging.

  • Are fluent in German, both written and spoken

  • Are great at communicating with many different kinds of people

  • Love working on highly complex interactions with other systems

  • Are good at reading technical documentation and can architect solutions based on them

  • Are passionate about building resilient systems and integrations

  • Work in a highly dynamic environment with other skilled engineers

And it’d be even better if you:

  • Have experience with Scala or other functional programming languages

  • Have experience with PHP

  • Prior experience with DATEV, ISBJ, or Destatis.

  • Have experience with pre-sales technical dialogues

You'll be working with:

You will be working in one of our engineering teams, reporting directly to one of our Engineering Managers.

The team is located in Copenhagen with a mixture of on-site members and remote engineers. If you are working out of Berlin, we provide all the necessary facilities and an office to work in with great Famly colleagues, but your team will be remote. Our development process is natively built to include remote work.

Our technology stack is cloud-native, with our frontend written in React and TypeScript and our backend built in a service-oriented architecture, using Scala and, to some extent, PHP. Communication is done through a combination of REST and GraphQL APIs.

You’ll love working here because:

  • We offer pension, health insurance, and maternity/paternity leave (vary a bit depending on which country you’re located in).

  • You get a clear career framework and coaching to make sure you’re growing, a 10,000 DKK personal development budget and a ‘We’ll buy you any book you want’ policy.

  • We’re all about hiring a diverse array of clever people - who are kind and good humans too. It means Famly is full of top thinkers and generous teammates waiting to help you shine.

  • A value of ‘make your colleagues shine' is all about breaking down silos, celebrating one another, and staying connected across departments, offices, and oceans.

  • We like to give a lot of ownership both in terms of responsibility and freedom to try new, challenging tasks.

  • Top-notch work equipment.

  • A lot of flexibility for you to work in the way (and place) that suits you best, while making sure we maintain a strong in-office connection.

  • Social activities… enjoy many opportunities for team fun with dinners out, office BBQs, Friday bar, big quarterly social events, game nights, and more!

The interview process looks like this:

  • An intro video chat with our People Partner

  • Logical test

  • A short video interview with an Engineering Manager and/or our CTO

  • A technical programming test with a follow-up meeting

  • Potentially, an on-site interview in Copenhagen or Berlin

  • Lastly, get an offer and join us

Looking forward to hearing from you!
