Student Assistant (Associate Analyst) - Finance & Legal

Job description

We are preparing for Famly’s next massive growth phase!

At Famly, we’re looking for our next superstar to join our growing finance & legal team! You will be a core part of a small team in a hyper-growth SaaS startup and thus gain a large amount of responsibility right from the get go. You will get to try a broad palate of tasks within finance operations and will also help drive legal initiatives across the organization. In Famly, we treat our student assistants as future full-time employees and put great effort into developing and honing your skills, and allow you to shape your own career path within Famly.

And Famly are...? Well it all began when our co-founder Henrik’s daughter was ready to start at daycare. He couldn’t believe the amount of work being done on paper - and how distant he felt from his first child during the day. The paper ‘parent’ books they exchanged once a month just weren’t cutting it. Together with his friend, our co-founder and CEO Anders, they set about solving that.

These days, the 150 of us building Famly talk about trying to do two things for our 4,000 customers

  • Giving children the best possible start to life.

  • Championing the vital work that goes into making that happen.

We do it with software that brings hundreds of thousands of parents closer to their child’s day while they’re away from them. We also make financial, pedagogical, and planning tools for more than 34,000 childcare professionals, saving them hours and reducing their admin stress.

Ultimately, that gives them more time and headspace for the little ones that really matter. Come help us make that happen.

What you'll be doing:

As a student assistant (formal title: Associate Analyst) you will be a dedicated finance & legal person at Famly and will be reporting to and working directly with our Director of Finance & Legal. This is a part time position with an expected workload of 15-20 hours a week, however with a large degree of flexibility around exam periods. We are a small hands-on team, so every member is expected to perform whatever task is needed within the team, even if it’s not described below.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Finance revenue operations (accounts receivable) for our core business including handling customer payments, invoicing, dealing with customer e-mails and communicating with our customer success team about debt collection

  • Assisting our legal counsel with rolling out legal initiatives across the organization

  • Identifying, launching and managing projects that can reduce admin time for our legal & finance department

  • Designing and implementing new financial processes (typically through SQL / Advanced google sheets programming)

  • Monitoring spend and drive cost savings where possible

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • You are a fast learner and technically competent (Advanced Excel/Google sheets/SQL or other programming experience preferred)

  • You have a genuine interest in either finance or legal (or both!) and is curious to learn more

  • You can work independently, proactively and enjoy detail-oriented work

  • You are process-driven and enjoy continuously improving existing processes

  • You are eager to help your colleagues. We are a scale-up and all employees are expected to support where they are most needed.

We expect you to have:

  • 1-3 years left of your studies - any line of study that requires a high degree of law or numerical literacy is relevant (such as cand.merc)

  • Excellent technical excel/google sheets skills

  • Excellent Danish and English skills, both written and spoken

  • Great communication skills

  • An open mind towards working with people from different cultures and backgrounds (we have more than different 30 nationalities at Famly)

We appreciate that everyone brings something unique, so even if you don’t tick every box above, we’d still love to read your application.

The interview process looks like this:

  • Interview with People Partner

  • Logical test

  • Interview with Director of Finance & Legal (potentially a case-interview depending on your qualifications)

You’ll love working here because:

  • We’re all about hiring clever people who are good humans too. It means Famly is full of top thinkers and generous teammates waiting to help you shine.

  • We like to give a lot of ownership both in terms of responsibility and freedom to try new things. We’ll get you up and running and collaborate along the way, of course.

  • Top-notch work equipment (including noise-cancelling headphones for those focus periods!).

  • A big focus on people support with personal and career development, including monthly training sessions in a wide-variety of topics.

When you’re at Copenhagen HQ, you can enjoy:

  • A yummy daily buffet and a well stocked drinks fridge (did someone say snack corner?)

  • Our private rooftop courtyard (sunny all year round, we promise…!)

  • Post-covid social activities have now resumed… enjoy endless team fun with dinners out, office BBQs, Friday bars, big quarterly social events, game nights, and more!

We're looking to fill the position as soon as possible, so get your application in today by sending us:

  • Your resume (CV)

  • A cover letter to tell us what you can bring to the role, and what speaks to you about Famly.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
